BATAVIA — Bailey Carney scored the go-ahead goal with 4:11 left in the third period as host Notre Dame its their 4-3 victory over the Geneseo/Livonia/Avon Lakers Tuesday night at Faletti
With Notre Dame holding a 3-2 lead with 6:33 left in the game, the Lakers would tie things up at 3-3 when A.J. Versage scored the equalizer.
It was Versage that had closed the gap in the second period to 3-2 when he scored off a power play for the Lakers.
Notre Dame had taken a 3-1 lead thanks to a pair of goals from Jedidiah Reese and one from Alexander Totten.
Mitchel Pangrazio picked up the victory in net for the Fighting Irish.
“I thought we had a lot of energy tonight,” Notre Dame coach Marc Staley said. “We played much better than we did against Spencerport. It’s always a tough game against Geneseo. The last 10 times we have played them it has been a one goal game nine times. We know what we are getting into with them. We gutted it out in the third period. Losing nine seniors you never know where the leadership will come from but right now I was happy in that moment that the kids were able to step up and get the W.”
