To say that Florida State is struggling this year would be an understatement. The Seminoles are 4-5 on the season, can’t seem to protect their quarterback, are unable to establish much of a running game, and are struggling to stop just about every opponent they face.
This weekend, Florida State travels to South Bend to take on the undefeated Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This is a matchup that, on paper, could get ugly. Notre Dame is an 18-point favorite in this one and when comparing both teams, it’s clear why.
However, it’s college football and crazier upsets have happened. Florida State may be struggling, but they are still loaded at many positions and is filled with NFL talent. The quarterbacks can make plays, the defensive line is potentially the best Notre Dame will face all year, and there are weapons all over the place.
247Sports and Irish Illustrated have been teaming up to create a ton of videos lately regarding Notre Dame football and Fighting Irish recruiting. The latest video features anchorman Kevin Boilard and Fighting Irish insider Tom Loy.
So, should Notre Dame be worried about Florida State’s talented roster when the Seminoles come to town this weekend? We discuss.
“Yeah, they’re loaded with talent, no question about it. I think that they struggle in a couple of areas. I think the offensive line is pretty bad and for Notre Dame, the defensive line is tremendous, so that’s going to be a key to the game. But when you’ve got guys like, depending on who is going to start at quarterback, James Blackman or Deondre Francois, Tamorrion Terry at wide receiver, he’s coming into his own, Cam Akers at running back, Brian Burns at defensive end, he’s one of the best in the country. So, they definitely have talent. It’s kind of a lot like Notre Dame when they played Northwestern last weekend. It’s about going in, welcoming Florida State into Notre Dame Stadium, and making it very clear early that they have no shot, which I don’t think they have much of one. I expect Notre Dame to win comfortably.”
