Mac Hippenhammer committed to Penn State two months after receiving an offer following his performance at the Bowling Green satellite camp. But his recruitment was far from over, with the Indiana product flirting with the in-state Notre Dame Fighting Irish throughout his recruitment. He eventually landed an offer from the Fighting Irish on January 15, 2017, and even visited Notre Dame the next day. But following visits from James Franklin, Joe Moorhead, and Josh Gattis — not to mention taking in Happy Valley for an official visit — Hippenhammer stuck with his pledge to Penn State, signing for the Nittany Lions on National Signing Day.
Once Hippenhammer enrolled in Happy Valley, he spent his first season redshirting, but enjoyed a productive spring this offseason, which culminated in his two-touchdown performance in the Blue-White game. With returning starter DeAndre Thompkins expected to see a lot of time in the slot, Hippenhammer should push for time (and perhaps the starting role) on the outside spot opposite Juwan Johnson.
Just 12 days until Penn State football!
P.S. Michael Robinson forever.
