Notre Dame nearly has its 2019 class completely wrapped up, so it makes sense that the Fighting Irish coaching staff is out on the recruiting trail getting ahead in the 2020 and 2021 classes.
On Tuesday, a Notre Dame assistant coach will be seeing a priority recruit. Irish Illustrated and 247Sports have the latest.
According to one of the top prospects in Michigan, defensive line coach Mike Elston will be at Port Huron (Mich.) Northern high school tonight to see four-star defensive end Braiden McGregor in action at his basketball game. The 6-5, 248-pounder remains a top priority for the Fighting Irish coaching staff and continues to push hard to make sure he end up in South Bend.
The 247Sports Crystal Ball is currently in favor of Notre Dame for McGregor. Of the five picks, three are in for the Irish and two are in for the in-state Michigan Wolverines.
McGregor has blown up on the recruiting trail since picking up early offers from Notre Dame and Michigan. Others in play include Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Wisconsin and many others. This recruitment will likely be narrowed down later this week to a select group, so we’ll have a better of idea how things will shakeout in the near future.
Per the 247Sports Composite Rankings, McGregor is the No. 323 overall recruit nationally, No. 18 strong-side defensive end nationally and No. 6 recruit in Michigan from the class of 2020.
