Notre Dame sees Top100 RB while out on the recruiting trail

Notre Dame finished the regular season 12-0 and is currently out on the recruiting trail trying to finish things up with the 2019 class and get ahead in 2020 and 2021.

The Fighting Irish offered a Top100 running back from the class of 2020 earlier this month and the staff wasted no time going to see him earlier this week.

On Wednesday, Notre Dame running backs coach Autry Denson stopped by Mesquite (Texas) Poteet high school to see four-star running back Seth McGowan, the No. 84 overall player in the class of 2020 according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The 5-11, 200-pounder has one of the most impressive offer lists nationally. Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M and many others have already made it clear that he is a wanted man.

“Seth is one of the smartest, hardest-working kids I have had the pleasure to coach,” said Poteet recruiting coordinator and safeties coach Anthony Byrd. “He competes at everything. I don’t really know his interest level [in Notre Dame], but I do know he was super-excited about the opportunity. Knowing Seth, he will do all of his research and look for the best fit for him.”

McGowan is listed as the No. 10 running back in the country and No. 12 prospect in Texas from the 2020 class.

In addition to McGowan, Poteet high school is home to two other class of 2020 prospects to keep an eye on. Wide receiver Tristan Golightly is a 6-5, 205-pounder with an offer in hand from Louisville. With his size and speed, he’s absolutely a guy to watch. In addition, three-star class of 2020 safety Jalen Hodo has the chance to be a good one. He’s a 6-0, 175-pounder with plenty of interest, although he doesn’t have any offers quite yet. “Special” was how one source from the Lone Star State describe Hodo.
