The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are down in the Bahamas on a basketball tour. While it looks like a bit of a vacation, the team is putting in work and Mike Brey is trying to find out what he has in the post Bonzie Colson era.
The 2018-2019 team is going to have a lot of new parts with the incoming freshmen, and transfer Juwan Durham. These preseason outings may seem very under the radar — but they are extremely important to set up for the season.
In this game against IBA Elite, the Irish dominated from start to finish (as you would expect) with a 119-61 win. Here are the game stats for the Irish:

So, it looks like everyone got some good work in during the game. Here are a few team stats that stand out:
- 58% from the field looks pretty good.
- 66.7% from the free throw line does not.
- Attendance: 62
There isn’t a whole lot to go off of here, so I’m going to embed some of the tweets from the Notre Dame men’s basketball SID, Alan Wasielewski to provide a little bit of a recap. There’s also a small highlight video (no punch and pie).
Mike Brey wasn’t exactly “Maui Brey” but he was damn close.
Dane Goodwin was pretty much taken out (not hurt at all) on a fast break. @NDMikeBrey to the ref “I am NOT buying your drinks tonight.”

Thoughts from @NDMikeBrey to team the win over IBA Elite –
“We have got a lot to work with and a long way to go. Loved the way we move and share the ball. We ran the court well, especially the big guys. With all our new faces – a pretty good first night.”— Alan Wasielewski (@NDmbbSID) August 8, 2018
Let’s embrace technology – an @NDmbb ‘game recap’ in four tweets (1/4)
1st part of game, ND was trying to find themselves – what they eventually found was transition opportunities. ND would force 29 turnovers in the game and score 36 pts off them.— Alan Wasielewski (@NDmbbSID) August 8, 2018
(2/4) @JuwanDurham impressed in his first game in an ND uniform. Was active on the boards, ran the floor for some easy baskets and finished with authority. @Tempppp12 finished 5-8 from 3FG with six assists.

(3/4) The three frosh that played for @NDmbb combined for 42 points, 16 rebounds and five assists. All had their moments – @natelaszewski showing off his 3FG shot, but also attacking the rim – @danegoodwin23 with a team-high two blocks and @robbycarmody23 with 16 pts on 6-9 FGs

(4/4) Liam Nelligan provided the highlight of the day, streaking down the baseline for a dunk late in the fourth quarter. Also, of @Tempppp12‘s five fouls, one – perhaps two – were legitimate. He was the target of a few really questionable calls. Kept his head.
