Just look at this shot.
That’s Arike Ogunbowale somehow fighting through a defender, receiving a pass while stumbling, darting to her right and letting fly — that leg kick! — with an absolutely perfect shot to lead the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the NCAA women’s basketball national championship earlier this year.
On Saturday, when Notre Dame’s eighth-ranked football team trounced No. 7 Stanford 38-17, the school’s marching band paid homage to Ogunbowale.
I now feel as though I’d like to re-cast my vote in our recent contest to find the best marching band (won by Central Michigan) because this is a very fitting tribute from The Band of the Fighting Irish (official name.)
Notre Dame did the stick figure basketball thing at least once before (I believe this is actually from 2015) and it remains awesome.
