It will be a battle of undefeated teams in the College Football Playoff as No. 2 Clemson (13-0) takes on No. 3 Notre Dame (12-0) in the Cotton Bowl.
The game will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Fighting Irish have played in the Cotton Bowl Classic seven times and have a 5-2 record – second most wins in the bowl game. The Tigers, on the other hand, will be making their first appearance in the Cotton Bowl since 1940.
The Clemson Tigers have only seldom been seriously challenged this season, winning all but two games by at least 20 points. After a 12-0 regular season, the Tigers crushed Pitt, 42-10, to win their fourth straight ACC Championship Game.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are making their first appearance in the tournament after going 12-0 in the regular season. In making the tournament, the Fighting Irish are also the first Independent program to secure a spot – and one of only a handful to make it in without having played a conference championship game.
