The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of several NFL teams in the market for a new head coach. A new report suggests they have their eyes on a coach from this year’s College Football Playoff.
According to Mully and Haugh on Chicago’s 670 The Score, Tampa Bay has Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly on its short list. Kelly just completed his ninth season in South Bend.
Per the report, Kelly could be in charge of all football operations in Tampa.

Kelly has had his dalliances with the NFL before, most notably with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013, but has always ultimately elected to remain in college. He’s never coached at the professional level.
However, The Score reports that the Bucs are considering paying their new head coach as much as $10 million per year, and coupled with full control of football ops, that is an enticing opportunity for any coach.
Kelly is 81-35 in his nine seasons at Notre Dame. He’s led the Irish to two undefeated regular seasons, but has suffered lopsided bowl losses both of those years.
If Kelly feels he has taken the Notre Dame program as far as he can, would he entertain a jump to the pros?
