No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Notre Dame will square off in the first of two College Football Playoff games on December 29.
This year’s Cotton Bowl Classic will pit two undefeated teams with the defending ACC Champions Clemson (13-0) taking on Notre Dame (12-0).
ESPN announced today that the Clemson-Notre Dame game will be played at 4 p.m. on ESPN.
This, of course, means that the Alabama-Oklahoma matchup in the Orange Bowl will take place in prime time at 8 p.m. later that day.

The Clemson Tigers are in the College Football Playoff for the fourth straight time. Last year the team lost a rubber match to Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. The two previous years, Clemson and Alabama had met in the National Championship Game.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, on the other hand, are making their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff. The last time Notre Dame started the season 12-0, they played in the BCS National Championship game against Alabama.
Clemson open the game as an 11.5-point favorite.
