James Timothy “Tim” Yacobi, Sr., 62, of Williamsburg, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Xavier Francis Yacobi Jr. and Anne Petty Yacobi; and brother, Mike.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Yacobi Dickerson (Brian); son, James Timothy Yacobi Jr. (Lindsey); and grandsons, Charles Johnson, Blake Johnson, James Yacobi and Will Dickerson. He is also survived by his sisters, Laura Yacobi Struyf and Tina Yacobi Motola; sister-in law, Patricia; brothers, Frank, John, Tony and Rob Yacobi; and numerous dearly-loved nieces and nephews.
Tim was born in Gary, Indiana, and attended Marian Catholic High School and Northern Illinois University before relocating to Virginia in 1976. He retired as an inspector with Newport News Shipbuilding, where he was employed for 38 years. A three-time cancer survivor, he faced and won each challenge with faith, optimism and humor. He was a lifelong fan of his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg. A funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, at Saint Bede Catholic Church.
