ESPN Has Major Update On Former Coach Charlie Weis

Charlie Weis has been out of football for several years now and out of the NFL for even longer. But it looks like Weis is ready, willing and able to return to the NFL.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Weis is interested in returning to the NFL as an offensive coordinator.

Weis has been out of the NFL since 2010, when he was offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs. His last coaching stint was as head coach of Kansas from 2012 to 2014.

During his time in Kansas, the Jayhawks went 6-22 while going 1-18 in Big 12 games.

Originally a Bill Parcells disciple, Weis served in a variety of coaching capacities while Parcells was with the New York Giants, New England Patriots and New York Jets.

But Weis’ claim to fame came as offensive coordinator of the Patriots from 2000 to 2004, during which he helped Bill Belichick create the offense that would win three Super Bowl titles in four years.

He was hired as head coach of Notre Dame in 2005 and took the Fighting Irish to three bowl games in five years before being fired at the end of the 2009 season.
