Blackhawks’ Corey Crawford to wear sleek goalie mask for 2019 Winter Classic

Corey Crawford is going old school with his mask for the 2019 Winter Classic.

The Blackhawks goaltender will wear a mask that mirrors the 1930’s jersey his team will wear Jan. 1, when they face the Bruins at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana.

The mask features seven white stripes from one side to the other, and two more at the top of the head. The modified Blackhawks logo is on both sides of the mask as well.

The jersey has five white stripes along the bottom and each sleeve, with two near the collar. It also features a tribute to Notre Dame’s football program with white diagonal dashes like the endzone pattern. The year of each of the Blackhawks’ six Stanley Cup victories is in between the dashes.

Crawford’s mask, however, does not appear to have any tie-ins to the Fighting Irish, who will play in a College Football Playoff semifinal against Clemson on Dec. 29 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
